Ferocious Fermenters Workshop a Success!

The Flying Brick hosted the “Ferocious Fermenters” skillshare Wednesday night. More than twenty people jammed into the library to learn how to make kimchi, fridge pickles and hard cider in the workshop led by Myra, Jack and Michelle.

Participants happily chattered on as they chopped cabbage, radish, garlic, peppers, carrots, and daikon, which was mixed all together with salt. Little mason jars were filled with the mixture, topped with a weight and closed tight. Already made kimchi was sampled as folks discussed other ingredients that could be fermented.

Workshop facilitators provided their own zine for the event, “Ferocious Fermenters: The Art of Fermentation”, which is now avalaible at the Flying Brick Library. According to the zine, fermentation is good to improve digestion, increase your vitamin levels and help build enzymes in your gut!

“Everyone was really enthusiastic and had their own interesting anecdotes to contribute,” said Myra, one of the skill share facilitators. She hinted that due to the success of the first workshop that another may be in the future.
