New Shelves!

If you have stopped by the Library recently, you’ve probably noticed a HUGE mess! We’ve been slowly trying to re-organize books and zines to make more room and make things easier to look through. Between Library re-organizing, and the remodeling of the house’s kitchen, 506 S Pine St has been quite messy and cluttered. But things are cleaning up nicely now!

Ellen and Jeremy finished the shelves a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve been slowly moving sections over as we find time. If you would like to help out, stop by during normal open hours this Monday, the 27th, and give Ramey a hand! There is a rough sketch in the Library’s Big Red Book of where sections will be moved, but feel free to make suggestions! The plans are not set in stone!

Someone also donated this fancy Apple desktop computer! All we need is a Mac Keyboard! If you see one around for cheap or nothing, let us know by emailing theflyingbrick@riseup.net!

In totally unrelated news, Orlando Food Not Bombs has been fighting a new ordinance in their city that makes it illegal to do large servings of food in any city park without a permit, and those permits are only available 2 times per year per group. So, Food Not Bombs and its allies have responded by REFUSING to stop feeding. So far, over 20 people have been arrested for feeding people in public parks, and the Mayor of Orlando has even dubbed them FOOD TERRORISTS. Richmond Food Not Bombs has sent a solidarity care package to Orlando, and Orlando has sent Richmond a .pdf of documents they received through the Freedom of Information Act that tell tale of a Snitch planted within Richmond Food Not Bombs between the years 2003-2005. Take a look for yourself here.
